Friends of Hall-Brooke are volunteers who organize events and projects which benefit St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services, the patients, and the public. The Friends of Hall-Brooke were organized in 2002. It is a 501-C3 (tax exempt) charitable organization and an adjunct of the organization's Board of Directors. OUR MISSION: Enhance patient experiences by adding warm and personal touches to patients’ experiences while they receive the excellent medical and clinical care provided by St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services' professional staff. Destigmatize mental illness by communicating, through the media and community forums, information about the prevalence of mental illness among the general population, and by revealing ways to recognize it and to get help. Reach out to the community by sharing the intellectual and medical expertise of St. Vincent's professional staff with the public. By encouraging use of non-private areas of St. Vincent's physical facilities by public, especially non-profit, organizations.
THINGS WE DO: In the Spring, the Friends arrange Easter and Passover celebrations for hospitalized youth. In the fall, they furnish Halloween costumes, pumpkins and “trick or treat” goodies for this popular holiday for the young patients. December brings Christmas and Chanukah celebrations, arranged by the Friends, who also see that Santa’s bag is filled for his visit to the young patients. The Friends search local book sales for bargain copies of self help and inspiration volumes which are given to St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services' patients of all ages. And, once a year, the Friends arrange a block-buster lecture on a timely mental health topic, such as “The Beautiful Mind, Living with Schizophrenia,” “Danger Ahead: the Teen Years,” and “Women’s Health, through the Life Cycles.”
Join the Friends today! Be a part of these efforts for St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services and gain the satisfaction of being a Friend. . .
