Child and Adolescent Psychology Externship Spacer

Our Psychology Externship Program will enter its fifth academic year beginning September 2012 through May 2013. St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services is a provider of extensive psychiatric services in southern Connecticut, with various sites located near New York City. St. Vincent's Behavioral Health is a service of St. Vincent’s Medical Center and a member of Ascension Health.

Externs will be placed on an intensive outpatient service working with adolescents. There may be opportunities for placement on an inpatient service working with children and adolescents and clinical opportunities to work with adults as well. A commitment of 16 hours per week is required.

Inpatient Placements are on a Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit located at St. Vincent's Behavioral Health, Westport Campus on a beautiful site in Westport, CT (near Westchester).

Outpatient Placements are in an Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program located in Norwalk, Connecticut, immediately off of U.S. Route 1, and easily accessible by I-95 and the Merritt Parkway.

Extern Activities include weekly supervision; attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings and patient rounds; participation in intake & psychiatric evaluations; provision of group psychotherapy; as well as individual and family psychotherapy, and case coordination functions.

Educational Opportunities include twice monthly Grand Rounds; Symposia on selected pertinent topics held three times a year; Seminars and Case Conferences.

Supervision is provided by a Licensed Clinical Psychologists (CT and NY), and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists. For additional information regarding St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services' Psychology Externship, click here.
