A dozen artists from the region have been selected for the Sixth Annual Mother’s Day Weekend Art Show and Sale, May 9, 10, and 11, presented by the Friends of Hall-Brooke. The event will take place in the Community Room of Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health Services, 47 Long Lots Road, Westport.
The show’s admission, refreshments and door prize chances are all free of charge, as the event is a gift to the regional community. Show hours are:
Friday, May 9, Special Preview, 5-7 p.m.
Saturday, May 10, Meet the Artists Gala Reception, 5-8 p.m.
Sunday, May 11, Bring Your Mom Day, noon-4 p.m.
A Best of Show Award of $500 will be presented at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, May 10, during the Meet the Artist Gala Reception.
A 35 percent portion of show sales supports efforts of the Friends of Hall-Brooke, a volunteer group, to destigmatize mental illness through community outreach and education, and to enhance the excellent clinical care provided by Hall-Brooke with warm, personal touches, particularly for children hospitalized during holidays. Information on Friends membership is available at the Mother’s Day Art Show.
Jane Hutchison and Barbara Levy are co-chairing the event. Karen Ford and Julie O’Connor, Best in Show winners for 2007 and 2006, are show curators. Erin McAndrew, director of art galleries for Rockwell Art & Framing, headquartered in Westport, is show judge. BCN is media sponsor. Castle Wine & Spirits is hosting the Saturday gala reception.
Hall-Brooke is a wholly-owned subsidiary of St. Vincent’s Health Services of Bridgeport. It provides inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults with mental health issues. ###
