St. Vincent’s Health Services of Bridgeport and Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health Services of Westport today submitted a letter of intent to the Connecticut Office of Health Care Access (OHCA) to fully integrate its behavioral health inpatient services.
Once complete, the acute inpatient facility located in Westport will operate under the St. Vincent’s Medical Center license as St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Services, Westport Campus, offering an enhanced continuity of care for patients. The facility will continue to serve children, adolescent and adults with behavioral health and addiction services with no overall change or reduction in mission or employment.
“Hall-Brooke, like other private psychiatric facilities in the country, face significant reimbursement barriers due to federal regulations, which impacts our ability to offer a full continuum of care to patients,” says Susan L. Davis, RN, EdD, President/CEO of St. Vincent’s Health Services. “The integration of Hall-Brooke into St. Vincent’s allows us to enhance our continuity of services.”
In addition to the inpatient services in Westport, St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Services includes a 16-bed psychiatric unit at the Medical Center in Bridgeport. This makes the inpatient behavioral health service line of St. Vincent’s one of the largest in Connecticut serving approximately 2,350 individuals annually.
“There will be no change in clinical services or populations served on the Westport Campus, and there will be no change to the physical building or reduction of staff,” says James McCreath, PhD, LCSW, President/CEO of Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health Services, Inc. “Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health Services will continue to operate outpatient services located in Norwalk and Bridgeport, Seton Academy, a special educational school, and Community Residential Services in close consideration with the Medical Center.”
