Bombaci Named Employee of the Year Award

James Bombaci of Bridgeport, CT, the Operations Manager of Hall-Brooke’s Community Residential Services, has been selected as the recipient of the 2009 Dr. Bruny Germain Award of Excellence for Employee of the Year for St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health, including Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health Services. The award, instituted in 2005 and named for its first recipient, Dr. Bruny Germain, is designed to recognize an employee who consistently has a stellar employment record and an exceptional work performance.  All hospital employees are eligible.

Nominate by his peers and selected by the Employee of the Year Committee, Mr. Bombaci was honored at the May 14th, 2009 Service Awards Dinner. The program, designed to recognize employees who consistently exemplify all aspects of the hospital’s core values when dealing with patients, customers and co-workers, is sponsored by the St. Vincent’s Health System Human Resource Department.

In his current role as Operations Manager of Hall-Brooke’s Community Residential Services, Mr. Bombaci’s oversees the development of new projects, assists with the writing and management of grants and serves as the co-chair for the City of Bridgeport’s Housing Task Group. Additionally, he has volunteered as the Count Coordinator for the City of Norwalk’s Homeless Count for the past three years and has contributed to the development of the Westport Chapter of NAMI.

Mr. Bombaci, with seven separate letters of recommendations for the award, is described by his colleagues as a, “knowledgeable, devoted, conscientious hard worker, committed to the organization’s mission in his quest to house the homeless, mentally ill.” Another team member said, “Whether it be staying out until 11pm to make sure a client is safe, or driving through a snow storm first thing in the morning to make sure clients receive their medication, day and night, and at any hour, Jim’s priority is the organization and the clients, and how he will do his part to help meet both certain goals.” In response, Mr. Bombaci said, “I am humbled to work with such great colleagues who are so dedicated to the well-being of the clients we serve.”

Other St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Behavioral Health Services staff nominated by their peers for the employee of the year award include: Pierre Bien-Aime, Sophia Brownie-Jarvis, Deanna Cuseo, Jennifer Ellis, Nancy Langton, Carole Laskey and Gerry Saxonmeyer.
