The 8th Annual Mother's Day Art Show

Seven artists from Westport and Weston are among a dozen from the region selected for the Seventh Annual Mother's Day Weekend Art Show and Sale, May 8 and 9, 2010, presented by the Friends of Hall-Brooke. The show is hung in the Community Room of St. Vincent's Medical Center, Behavioral Health Service, Westport Campus (formerly known as Hall-Brooke Hospital), 47 Long Lots Road, Westport, CT.

Participating artists include Karen Ford, Dalton Ghetti, Leslie Giuliani, Lori Glavin, Mary Ellen Hendricks, Peter Konsterlie, Lynn Stephens Massey, Wendy Nylen, Julie O'Connor, Chery Ozar, Diane Pollack, and Ellen Schiffman. Ms. Ford was judged Best of Show in 2007 & 2009, Mr. Ghetti in 2008, and Ms. O'Connor, in 2006.

The show's admission, refreshments and door prize chances are all free of charge, as the event is a gift to the regional community.

Show hours are:
* Saturday, May 8, Noon to 8 PM with the Meet the Artists Gala Reception, 6-8 p.m.
* Sunday, May 9, Bring Your Mom Day, Noon-4 p.m.

A Best of Show Award of $500 will be presented at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 8, during the Meet the Artist Gala Reception. In addition, to the cash prize Jerry's Artarama has generously donated a $250.00 Gift Certificate for the winner and a $250.00 Gift Certificate for the runner-up.

Julie O'Connor and Whitney Wasserman are co-chairing the event. Karen Ford and Dalton Ghetti, Best of Show winners for 2009 and 2008, are show curators. Dennis Bradbury, Director/Owner of 22 Haviland Street Gallery, Norwalk, is show Juror. Judy Point Charitable Trust, Castle Wine and Spirits, People's United Bank, Tiffany & Co. and Jerry's Artarama are generous supporters of this event.

A 35 percent portion of show sales supports efforts of the Friends of Hall-Brooke, a volunteer group, to destigmatize mental illness through community outreach and education, and to enhance the excellent clinical care provided by St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services with warm, personal touches, particularly for children hospitalized during holidays. Information on Friends membership is available at the Mother's Day Art Show.
