Bio

Dr. Amir E. Masoud is Medical Co-Director of the Hartford HealthCare Neurogastroenterology and Motility Center.

He joins HHC from Yale where he was Director of Outpatient Endoscopy and helped build and expand the Motility program to one of the busiest in the nation and a destination center for complex motility disorders.

Dr. Masoud’s areas of interest include esophageal and swallowing disorders, reflux and heartburn, and defecatory disorders including constipation and fecal incontinence.

The HHC Neurogastroenterology and Motility Center boasts the most cutting edge and comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic tools available. A careful, caring, and multi-disciplinary approach is employed to tailor management plans unique to every patient.

After earning his medical degree from Ain Shams University, in Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Masoud completed his Medicine residency at St Louis University where he was also elected Chief Resident. He then went on to Yale, where he completed his Gastroenterology fellowship training before joining the full-time faculty. An early adopter of innovation and modern techniques, he was quickly able to establish Yale as a destination center for complex esophageal and swallowing disorders. He was also Director of outpatient endoscopy and responsible for coordinating and overseeing critical system wide initiatives aimed at enhancing endoscopy efficiency and patient experience.

He is an active member of multiple societies including the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Foregut Society (AFS), and the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society (ANMS) in addition to serving as a committee member for the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). Board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Masoud is accepting new patients.
