A New Era of Care in Fairfield County

January 23, 2025

Over the past six years, St. Vincent’s Medical Center has undergone a transformation that has reshaped healthcare in Fairfield County. Once a standalone community hospital, St. Vincent’s has become the cornerstone of a regional network delivering world-class care, right where people live and work.

Through Hartford HealthCare’s Forward Fairfield initiative, the region has seen an unprecedented expansion of access and innovation. Highlights include:

  • Increased urgent care access with the addition of seven new centers, for a total of 12
  • Doubled the number of primary care providers
  • Tripled the number of ambulatory sites — from 37 to 115
  • Added 175,000 square feet of added access

Investment in advanced medicine and technology has been equally transformative. St. Vincent’s Medical Center now features state-of-the-art operating rooms and is planning 17 new care sites to meet growing demand. The hospital also unveiled a new Cancer Center in Fairfield, the first in the nation to earn an Memorial Sloan-Kettering Care Partner designation, bringing cutting-edge oncology care to the community.

Quality and safety have also risen to new heights. St. Vincent’s has earned a Leapfrog A rating and a CMS Four-Star Rating, national recognitions that reflect the hospital’s commitment to exceptional outcomes and patient experience.

And behind every milestone is a renewed commitment to people — patients, caregivers, and communities. St. Vincent’s has recruited world-class physicians and surgeons and is expanding its role as a destination academic medical center through partnership with Quinnipiac University’s Frank Netter MD School of Medicine, preparing the next generation of clinicians to lead.

From an isolated hospital to a comprehensive health ecosystem, St. Vincent’s and Hartford HealthCare have redefined what’s possible for Fairfield County — creating access, excellence, and opportunity where it matters most.
